Its official, Kevin has once again joined forces with the Ark Riders who have been doing a fantastic job raising money for the Ark Cancer Centre in Basingstoke.
Now, this decision didn’t come lightly as this latest escapade will involve cycling a total of 453 miles in only 5 days!! Not all of you will know this, but Kevin is at the ripe old age of 57, so his less than intense training regime (eating 99p bags of popcorn from the local convenience store and drinking Rioja of an evening) will have to gather some considerable momentum into the New Year. That’s if he wants to complete it on a bicycle and not a stretcher anyway…
The route involves going through two locations in Europe that are twinned with our great town, Basingstoke. These are Braine-l’Alleud (Belgium) and Euskirchen (Germany).
The schedule is as below –
Day 1 – Basingstoke to Newhaven – Approximately 70 miles
Day 2 – Dieppe to Arras – Approximately 96 miles
Day 3 – Arras to Aaslt – Approximately 88 miles
Day 4 – Aaslt to Elsloo – Approximately 108 miles
Day 5 – Alsoo to Cologne – Approximately 93 miles
The cycle will begin on the 17th July 2019 and soon Kevin will be canvassing for sponsorship from companies and generous individuals alike. The more Kevin and his fellow riders raise the better, as I think we all know someone that has been affected by Cancer.
